Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course you must provide either:

a Statement of Attainment, or
a USI Transcript

showing successful completion of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (or an equivalent qualification), commonly referred to as a White Card.

Please note that presenting a White Card alone does not meet the entry requirements. In some cases, particularly where a White Card was issued more than 10 years ago, the card may not have been issued against the required unit of competency: CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (or equivalent).

To satisfy the prerequisite requirements, a valid Statement of Attainment or USI Transcript must be provided as evidence.

The following course codes and unit titles are accepted:

CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
CPCCOHS1001A – Work safely in the construction industry

Post-Course Requirements – Austroads Compliant (complete within 6 months of theory)

1. TC1 – Traffic Controller (Cat.1) – RIISS00058

Log 20 supervised hours on declared TTM Cat.1 roads covering: stop/slow bat, T-junction/intersection, straight road with reduced speed, vehicle manoeuvring (e.g., truck reversing), pedestrian management.

After 20 hours: practical assessment in live traffic.

2. TMI1 – Traffic Management Implementer (Cat.1) – RIISS00060

Complete 3 separate live traffic projects on Cat.1 roads including: at least 2 of (lane closure / lateral shift / intersection TMP) + at least 1 project controlling site construction vehicles.

First 2 projects reviewed by a qualified workplace supervisor.

Each project in live traffic; at least 1 formally assessed by an approved assessor.

Workplace Placement

Employed: complete at your workplace with a placement agreement between Knowledge Empowers You and your employer.

Not employed: Knowledge Empowers You arranges placement.

PPE (student must provide)

High-vis vest/shirt/jacket + pants, safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, fully charged two-way radios.

Day: Class D/N. Night: Class N (white with reflective tape).

Confirm PPE requirements with your Traffic Management Company before placement.

Six-Month Rule: All hours and assessments must be completed within 6 months of theory completion.

Example: Theory completed 1 March 2026 → practical due by 1 September 2026.
