Entry Requirement

This skill set may only be undertaken in addition to:

completion of the RIISS00060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads; and
at least three months experience applying skills and knowledge relevant to the above-mentioned skill set in a temporary traffic management workplace; and
providing evidence of relevant experience setting up at least 12 temporary traffic management designs including high speed roads; and at least two of the following design types:
pedestrian and cyclist controls
construction sites
lane closures
shoulder closures
night works
use of portable traffic control devices.

TMI3 – Traffic Management Implementer (Cat.3)

Following successful theoretical (in class/face-to-face) training, learners must obtain practical learning experience and successfully complete a final practical assessment before a Statement of Attainment is issued. This ensures individuals gain sufficient practical experience before working independently.

Practical Experience Requirements

Must be completed on declared TTM Category 3 roads within six months of completing the theoretical component.

Evidence must be provided from three separate live traffic projects (e.g., a lane closure on approach to an intersection on the same job counts as one activity).

Must include – with your workplace supervisor (at least two of the following):

Tunnel, on-ramp, or off-ramp

Mobile works including use of a convoy

Static works including multiple lane closures

Truck mounted attenuator setup

Deployment vehicle operations (including cone trucks and/or rumble strips)

Contra-flow

Must include – with an ATP assessor (setting out traffic guidance schemes for at least one of the following):

Lane use management system

Variable message signs

Variable speed limit signs

Safety barriers staging to suit changing work site requirements

Catering for over dimension vehicles

Portable traffic control devices

Deployment of traffic cones, bollards, or rumble strips
